Starlight Cruise in 4 easy steps!

IMPORTANT NOTICE about making SPAM bookings! As much as I regret having to say this, I feel it is now necessary! This past week or so, we have had many incidents where people have asked us to "book" after receiving a quotation and once everything has been done, they simply do not pay and keep quiet! Please note that every booking is a time consuming and costly process, not only for us but also Starlight, and by not confirming your booking through making the required deposit, you are putting other passengers into a situation whereby they might not be able to receive a cabin of their choice because you are keeping that cabin out of the system and they will have to pay more for a cabin upgrade! This form of SPAM is in my view not only unfair, but also immoral. If you are not able, or intent upon, to pay for your cruise, please do not jeopardize the opportunity of others who do, by reserving cabins unnecessarily! Charles Robbie |
We suggest that you have a pen and paper handy before proceeding!
Booking Process Step #1:
First you will need to decide on a date for your cruise.
The Melody departs only from Durban.
The Rhapsody departs from both Durban and Cape Town
Write down the cruise number (e.g. ME112) and date of your cruise.
Booking Process Step #2:
Now you will need to choose a cabin class!
Cabins on the Melody:
2 Berth Cabins (sleep 2 people only) are the STANDARD
3 & 4 berth cabins are the MODERATE
3, 4 & 5 berth cabins are MODERATE, SUPERIOR & PREMIER
Cabins on the Rhapsody:
2 berth Cabins are the STANDARD and
2 & 3 berth Cabins are the MODERATE and PREMIER
2, 3 & 4 berth Cabins are the SUPERIOR
Note: The Rhapsody does not have 5 berth cabins!
Q: What is the difference between an inside cabin and an outside cabin?
A: The outside cabin is slightly larger and has a window!
Q: Why are the cabin class prices so different?
A: The cheaper cabins are closer to sea level and are also smaller in size.
Q: Am I assured of a double bed?
A: NO! There are various sleeping arrangements which either have single beds,
or doubles with single beds! You can request a double bed and if available at
the time of booking, we will secure it for you.
Q: What if my chosen cabin class is not available?
A: We will automatically upgrade you to the next available cabin class and
call you to confirm if this is in order.
Q: What are the prices for the various cabin classes?
A: Please download the prices for the
MELODY and the
RHAPSODY. Please note that the
prices in these schedules are based on per person sharing a cabin. The 3rd and
4th person sharing prices are also on these Exel Sheets!

Booking Process Step #3:
You now need to know what else will be added to the cost!
Insurance:
Starlight has a mandatory insurance policy. All passengers over the age of 12
are required to take out this insurance from Starlight.
For cruises LESS than 7 nights it is R10 per person per day.
For cruises 7 nights or MORE, it is R20 per person per day.
The insurance is underwritten by AIG South Africa.
Port Fees:
Port Fees and taxes are applicable to every passenger! They are either R350 or
R400 per person depending on your cruise.
Fuel Surcharge:
As is customary with all airlines and cruise lines, a fuel surcharge may be
applied. Previously this was added as a surprise cost to your on-board hotel
bill! This season, Starlight have managed to secure a set fee of R125 per cabin
per night.
Included in the cost of your cruise:
All the accommodation, all meals and all on-board entertainment.
NOT included in the cost and which is added to your on-board hotel bill:
Drinks, Tips (approx US$3 per passenger per day), optional shore excursions,
Airport to Harbour shuttles (R60 per passenger per way) and items of a personal
nature.
Booking Process Step #4:
Now please fill in the form below!
Once we receive your information, we will do our best to secure a cabin in your
selected class. Once we have done that, we will send you an invoice with banking
details. You will then have 48 hours in which to make your deposit and the
balance is due 60 days prior to your cruise.
You will also receive a passenger booking form which needs to be completed and
signed and faxed to us.
Click on "Submit" and you will hear from us within 24 hours.
